Dr. Andreas Bender (LACDR)
Assistant Professor for Cheminformatics and Pharmaceutical IT Andreas joined the Pharma-IT Platform after being a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow with the Lead Discovery Informatics (LDI) group of the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) in Cambridge/MA for two years. He studied Chemistry and Bioinformatics in Berlin, Dublin and Frankfurt and received his PhD from the University of Cambridge (UK), working with Prof. Robert C. Glen at the Unilever Center for Molecular Science Informatics on New Approaches to Molecular Similarity. Andreas' expertise is in the development and application of cheminformatics methods such as those involved usually in early-stage drug discovery projects. |

Dr. Michael T. M. Emmerich (LIACS) Assistant Professor, Scientific and Natural Computing, Databases Michael joined the Pharma-IT Platform from a position as an Assistant Professor with the Natural Computing Group at the Leiden Center for Advanced Computer Science (LIACS). He received his PhD from the Centre for Applied Systems Analysis (ICD/CASA) of the University of Dortmund and his core expertise is in multi-criteria decision making and multiobjective optimization as applied to life science data. Michael's studies included both Applied Computer Science as well as Chemical Engineering at the University of Dortmund which now provides a strong foundation for various life science applications such as modeling dynamic cellular processes. |
